How does the rocking and reclining work?

The lever on the right arm reclines the backrest and holds anywhere you stop, not at preset notches, and a second lever controls the footrest. The Stop Rock Lock is built into the frame: flip it and the rocker becomes a steady armchair, which is what you want when you are eating or getting up.

What about the cushions?

Current stock comes with the upgraded Olefin weather-resistant cushions: a lining inside the cover keeps the filling dry if they catch a shower, though the surface can still dampen. Showerproof rather than fully waterproof, and the comfortable feel has not changed. We would still advise storing them when you are not using the set.

What is it made from?

The aluminium frame cannot rust, so the set stays outside all year round with no cover needed. The weave is hand-woven UV-stabilised HDPE rattan, which will not fade or go brittle in the sun the way lower-priced PVC rattan does. After 25 years of selling garden furniture from our Leicestershire garden centre, that combination is the difference we trust.

How big is it?

Each chair is W78 x D86 x H103cm, and the table is 60 x 60 x 43cm. As a set it sits comfortably in a 230cm x 90cm space, so it suits balconies, sun-trap corners and smaller patios.

How much assembly is required, and do I need tools?

Hardly any, and no tools at all. The chairs arrive with their rocking mechanisms held by cable ties for transit: snip the ties, slot each backrest into the chair body, and the set is ready to use. Most customers are sitting down within a few minutes of unboxing.

What's the difference between this and lower-priced rattan bistr

The frame and the chair mechanisms. Lower-priced sets often use steel frames that rust from the inside out, and they're usually static chairs with no movement. This set uses an aluminium frame that cannot rust, and each chair both rocks and reclines - with a Stop Rock Lock to make it stable at the table when you need it.

Can I leave this rattan bistro set outside all year round?

The aluminium frame cannot rust and the UV-stabilised HDPE rattan is designed to stay outdoors permanently, so no cover is needed for the frame and weave. We advise storing the cushions away when you're not using them - they're not waterproof, and that's deliberate (waterproof coatings feel clammy and crack in UV).

Is the Cappuccino Brown colour very dark?

It's a warm, mid-toned brown rather than a dark chocolate shade. In our experience, Cappuccino Brown works well if you're trying to move away from the all-grey look - it sits naturally against brickwork, timber decking, and established planting.

Can I leave the cushions out in the rain?

Is the rocking motion safe and can I stop it moving?

The built-in Stop Rock Lock disables the rocking completely, turning the chair into a fixed armchair. It's useful for getting in and out of the seat, eating at the table, or any time you want stability rather than motion. Disengage it and the rocking returns.

Do you have a showroom where I can try the chairs?

Our showroom is at Sapcote Garden Centre in Leicestershire - you're welcome to come and sit in the chairs before you decide. Our helpful and knowledgeable staff are here 7 days a week and can talk through sizing, delivery, or how the Stop Rock Lock works in person.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
