How does the rocking and reclining work?

The lever on the right arm reclines the backrest and holds anywhere you stop; a second lever works the footrest. The Stop Rock Lock is built into the frame, so you can rock while you relax and lock the chair still while you eat, or on slightly uneven decking.

What about the cushions?

Current stock comes with the upgraded Olefin weather-resistant cushions: a lining inside the cover keeps the filling dry if they catch a shower, though the surface can still dampen. Showerproof rather than fully waterproof, and the comfortable feel has not changed. We would still advise storing them when you are not using the set.

What is it made from?

The aluminium frame cannot rust, so the set stays outside all year round with no cover needed. The UV-stabilised HDPE rattan will not fade, rot or go brittle, unlike the PVC weave on lower-priced sets. The rocking mechanism is engineered into the frame itself, not bolted on, and the set carries our 3-Year Guarantee.

How big is it?

Each chair is W78 x D86 x H103cm, and the table is 60 x 60 x 43cm. Allow around 230cm x 90cm for the full set.

Why is this rocking reclining rattan bistro set more expensive t

Because you're paying for two things most sets don't have: the dual-motion chairs (rocking + reclining) with the Stop Rock Lock, and the aluminium/HDPE build. Aluminium cannot rust, and UV-stabilised HDPE rattan will not fade, rot or go brittle. Cheaper sets usually cut cost with steel frames and lower-grade PVC rattan that cracks after a couple of summers.

Is the rocking feature a gimmick, or will I actually use it?

You'll use it if you like to sit outside for more than ten minutes. The key is the Stop Rock Lock: you can rock when you want to relax, then lock it off when you want a steady chair for eating or getting up. Can I leave the Burbage set outside all year round?

Will the moving parts break over time?

The rocking mechanism is engineered into the chair frame rather than bolted on as an afterthought, and the whole set is covered by our 3-Year Guarantee. In our experience, aluminium-framed rattan sets are good for well over 10 years with normal cushion care.

How much assembly is required, and do I need tools?

Hardly any, and no tools at all. The chairs arrive with their rocking mechanisms held by cable ties for transit: snip the ties, slot each backrest into the chair body, and the set is ready to use. Most customers are sitting down within a few minutes of unboxing.

Will the Stone Grey rattan fade in the sun?

The weave is UV-stabilised HDPE rattan, so it will not fade or go brittle in normal outdoor use. PVC rattan - the cheaper type found on many budget sets - can crack after a couple of strong summers. HDPE is UV-stabilised to keep its colour and flexibility for years.

Do you have a showroom where I can try this set before buying?

Our showroom at Sapcote Garden Centre in Leicestershire has the set on display, and rocking and reclining is something you understand properly once you've tried it in person. Our helpful and knowledgeable staff are on hand 7 days a week - no appointment needed.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
