Will the dark grey suit my patio and door trim?

Usually yes. The dark grey rattan is an anthracite tone in natural daylight, so it pairs cleanly with dark slate paving, charcoal porcelain, anthracite bi-fold trim, or charcoal composite decking. If your garden is already in that palette, this is the colour that works with it.

Is this a set you actually sit on, or just look at?

Sit on. The four seats are sized for an unhurried hour on the patio with a coffee or an evening drink, not the quick perch you get from a bench. The coffee table is at the right height for a mug or a tumbler within easy reach, so you settle in once and don't keep getting up.

Cushions come included. We designed them for comfort, with the trade-off that you store them when the set's not in use. In our experience that's a once-a-day step rather than a daily faff, and you leave the frame and rattan outside year-round so you're never wrestling the whole set indoors.

Is it really all-weather, no cover needed?

Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and we use a 0.2mm powder coating, two to three times thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. The weave is hand-woven UV-stabilised synthetic rattan, which won't fade, rot or go brittle when left outdoors year-round. The 5mm tempered safety glass top doesn't crack in British winters the way ordinary glass can.

This means you can leave the structure outside through the whole year, so you're not wrestling a cover on and off every time it rains, and you save the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. In our experience, customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying their rattan is just as good as when they first bought it. Cushions are the only part you'll want to bring in of an evening; a deck box on the patio or a shelf indoors keeps them dry.

How does this compare to other lounge sets at this price?

Cheaper lounge sets at this size use steel frames that rust within a couple of winters and PVC rattan that goes brittle in the sun. You'd be replacing the set sooner and dealing with rust streaks across your paving in the meantime, and orange rust shows up more obviously on dark slate or charcoal porcelain than on lighter paving.

Considering a brand-name lounge set at £2,000 or more? You'd be paying mainly for the marketing and the polished website. The actual furniture is almost exactly the same as ours: aluminium frame, UV-stabilised rattan, 5mm tempered glass. Why does this set cost more than cheaper 4 seater rattan sets?

Materials make the difference. Cheaper sets typically use steel frames and lower-grade PVC rattan - steel corrodes from the inside out through joints and bolt holes, and PVC cracks after a couple of summers. This set uses an aluminium frame that cannot rust, plus UV-stabilised HDPE rattan that will not fade or go brittle. In our experience, that changes the replacement cycle from every 2–3 seasons to many years.

Can I leave the Sapcote Sofa Lounge Set outside all year?

Leave the frame and rattan outside all year - the aluminium cannot rust, and the UV-stabilised HDPE rattan copes with sun and rain without degrading. Store the cushions when you're not using the set. A cover is optional for keeping leaves and pollen off; the set itself does not need one.

Is the glass on the table safe?

The table top is 5mm tempered safety glass, made to handle the temperature swings that catch standard glass out in UK weather. If it ever breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pieces rather than sharp shards - a practical choice for gardens where the table is in daily use.

Will the dark grey rattan fade in the sun?

In normal UK conditions, no. The rattan is UV-stabilised HDPE, which holds its colour and does not become brittle with sun exposure. PVC rattan on cheaper sets can fade and crack within a couple of summers - HDPE is chosen specifically to avoid that.

Are the cushions waterproof?

No - and deliberately so. Waterproof cushions feel clammy, trap heat, and the coating cracks after a couple of summers in UV. We designed these for comfort, not to live outside permanently. Store them indoors or in a cushion box when you're not using the set, and they'll last years.

How much assembly is required?

None at all. Every piece arrives fully assembled, the table included. Unbox it, set it out on the patio, and you're ready.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
