Garden Centre Shopping rattan companion seats are built around one simple test. We leave a set outside through a full Leicestershire winter at the showroom, no cover, and check it in March. Every product in this range has to pass that test. We use aluminium frames and HDPE rattan rather than the steel and PVC most cheap supermarket sets are built from.

• Strong Aluminium Frame That Cannot Rust: We chose aluminium for every frame in this range because steel rusts from the inside out, working through joints and bolt holes until orange staining starts creeping across the patio slabs. Our 0.2mm powder coating then seals the aluminium against frost, 2.5 to 3 times thicker than the 0.06-0.08mm coating used on most garden furniture frames. We pick that thickness specifically because anything thinner would chip in repeated frost cycles.
• UV-Stabilised HDPE Rattan, Not PVC: We specify hand-woven HDPE rattan across the entire range, not the PVC that dominates the cheap rattan tier. We see PVC fail at the weave joints by the second summer, after the plasticisers out-gas under UV exposure and leave the polymer brittle and faded. Our rattan holds its colour through full British winters and summers; it doesn't fade, doesn't rot, doesn't crack.
• Leave Outside All Year, No Cover Required: Every set in this range survives a full British winter outside, no cover required. If your furniture needs a cover to survive winter, it isn't weatherproof, just outdoor-tolerant. We rejected that design philosophy because covers tear in strong wind, degrade in UV after a couple of summers, and you end up replacing them as often as the cheap furniture they were meant to protect. Our sets handle Leicestershire winter, full sun, and hard rain on the same powder-coated aluminium frame.
• 10cm Cushions That Don't Compress: Our 10cm-thick cushions hold their shape through a long Sunday lunch or an afternoon book. Every set comes with removable covers that go in the washing machine.
