Will I actually use the recline during dinner, or is this a novelty feature?

You won't use the recline during dinner. You'll use it after dinner, which is the point. Most outdoor dining sets are the set the family leaves the moment the plates are cleared, because the chairs are upright and twenty minutes past pudding your back is asking you to move. We designed this set differently.

Each chair sits upright while the food is on the table, the way a dining chair needs to sit for cutting and eating properly. After the meal, you lean back, ease the chair into the angle that supports your shoulders, and you stay settled there for the coffee, the second glass of wine, the conversation that runs an hour past pudding. Same chair, two postures. The recline is the reason the family stays outside after dinner instead of moving indoors to the sofa.

Is the Cosby a new range? What's the heritage behind it?

Cosby is our 2026 addition, joining Sapcote, Burbage, Burton and Sharnford in the line. The recline-while-dining configuration is new for us, so the set hasn't been outside on customers' patios long enough to gather a decade of reviews yet. What it does carry is the core build we have been selling since 2001 across every other range: an aluminium structure under a 0.2mm powder-coated finish, with hand-woven UV-stabilised synthetic rattan over the frame. That is the build our customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying still sits in their gardens looking the way it did the day they bought it.

Is it really all-weather, no cover needed, including the moving parts on the chairs?

Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and we use a 0.2mm powder coating, two to three times thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. The aluminium runs through the chair structure including the joints inside the reclining mechanism, which matters because a steel-frame chair corrodes exactly there, at the moving parts where moisture collects. We also use hand-woven UV-stabilised synthetic rattan, which won't fade, rot or go brittle outside year-round.

This means the structure is fully weatherproof and doesn't need a cover, so it saves you the hassle and the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. Cushions are the only part you'll want to bring in of an evening; take them indoors or store them in a deck box between sittings.

How does this compare to other reclining dining sets at this price?

Cheaper four-seater dining sets at this size use steel frames that rust within a couple of winters, and most are upright-only, so even when they hold up structurally the family gets up from the table the moment the meal is done. The few cheaper sets that do offer recline pair the steel frame with PVC rattan that goes brittle in the sun and a notched recline that locks at three or four preset angles, none of which is usually the one you actually want. You'd be replacing the set sooner and dealing with a stiff or seized mechanism in the meantime.

Considering a brand-name reclining dining set at £2,000 or more? You'd be paying mainly for the marketing and the polished website. The actual furniture is almost exactly the same as ours: aluminium frame, UV-stabilised rattan, the same recline-while-dining configuration. We design our own Cosby range and sell it direct from our family-run Leicestershire showroom since 2001, without the excessive markup of big name brands.

How much assembly is required?

Very little, and only on the table. The chairs arrive fully assembled. The table goes together in a few minutes with the screws provided.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
