Who is the fifth seat actually for?

The household that has been pulling up a kitchen chair every Sunday for three years. A grown child back from university every other weekend, a parent who joins for Sunday lunch, a teenager who still eats outside with the family in summer, a weekend-coffee neighbour. The 4-seater works for two adults hosting occasionally; the 5-seater is for the household where a third person is on the patio most weekends and the chair-from-the-kitchen routine has worn thin.

If your fifth person joins twice a year for a birthday, the 4-seater (852) is the right set and saves you £300. If they're on the patio most Sundays, that £300 spread across a decade is roughly £30 a year, less than the friction of dragging a kitchen chair out every weekend. The build is the same across both sets; the step-up funds the extra seat, not a quality upgrade.

What does the height-adjustable table do?

It lifts the top from a low position for drinks and feet up to proper eating level, in one motion. The difference between 45cm coffee height and 70cm dining height is the difference between balancing a plate on your knees and eating properly. Drop it low for evening drinks with the partner, raise it when you carry plates out for Sunday lunch, drop it again afterwards when the mugs arrive.

The point of the mechanism is that most linear patios don't have room for both a coffee table and a separate dining set. We designed this so one piece of furniture serves both heights, which frees up the rest of the patio for the seating itself, for planters, or for a path past the bi-fold doors.

Will the 5-seater fit a linear patio?

Usually yes, and a straight-sofa layout suits linear patios better than a corner set of the same capacity. The L-shape footprint dominates a square area; the Oakham runs along the wall instead, which suits long terraces, narrow courtyards, or new-build paving where a 3m x 3m corner footprint won't fit.

Is it really all-weather, no cover needed?

Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and the finish is a 0.2mm powder coating, thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. The synthetic rattan is UV-stabilised, so it won't fade, rot or go brittle when left outside year-round.

You can leave the structure out all year without a cover, which saves you the hassle and the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. In our experience, customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying their rattan is just as good as the day it arrived. Cushions are the only part you'll want to bring in of an evening: a deck box or a shelf indoors keeps them dry between uses.

How does this compare to other 5-seater lounge sets at this price?

Considering a brand-name set at £3,000 or more? You'd be paying mainly for the marketing and the polished website. The actual furniture is almost exactly the same as ours: aluminium frame, UV-stabilised rattan, comparable cushion depth, tempered glass on the adjustable table. We design our own Oakham range and sell it direct from our family-run Leicestershire showroom since 2001, without the excessive markup of big name brands.

How much assembly is required?

None at all. Every piece arrives fully assembled, the table included. Unbox it, set it out on the patio, and you're ready.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
