What does the height-adjustable table actually do?

It lifts the top from a low position used for drinks and an evening's reading up to proper eating level, in one motion. The difference between a coffee-height table and a dining-height table is the difference between balancing a plate on your knees and eating properly. Drop the table low for an hour outside with a glass of wine after work, then raise it when you carry plates out for Sunday lunch, then drop it again afterwards when the dishes clear.

The point of the lift is that most patios don't have space for both a sofa set and a separate dining set. We designed this set so one piece of furniture serves both heights, which frees up the rest of the patio for planters, a path to the back door, or just the seating itself.

Why a straight sofa rather than a corner?

Because plenty of patios don't suit a corner. A long thin patio that runs along one wall of the house, an against-wall placement bounded by a fence or a planted border, a new-build patio that doesn't reach the three-metre depth a corner sofa needs, or a courtyard where one side of an L would face a dead wall. A straight sofa lounge fits all of those without orphaning a section the way a corner set does.

The other side of it: a corner sofa locks four seats into one shape on day one. A straight sofa sits along one face of the patio and leaves the depth clear for the route past the back door, the planters along the boundary, or the BBQ when it comes out.

Is it really all-weather, no cover needed?

Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and we use a 0.2mm powder coating, two to three times thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. We also use hand-woven UV-stabilised synthetic rattan, which won't fade, rot or go brittle when left outside year-round.

This means the structure is fully weatherproof and doesn't need a cover or storage, so it saves you the hassle and the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. In our experience, customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying their rattan is just as good as when they first bought it. The one thing to bring in of an evening is the cushions; a deck box on the patio or a shelf indoors keeps them dry between sittings.

How does this compare to other rattan lounge sofas at this price?

Cheaper four-seat lounge sofas at this size use steel frames that rust within a couple of winters, paired with PVC rattan that goes brittle in the sun. You'd be replacing the whole thing sooner and dealing with rust streaks on your paving in the meantime.

Considering a brand-name lounge sofa for four at £2,500 or more? You'd be paying mainly for the marketing and the polished website. How much assembly is required?

None at all. Every piece arrives fully assembled, the table included. Unbox it, set it out on the patio, and you're ready.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
